Roche Legal wins the 2020 Reisman Award for Legal Innovation

Clio, one of the World leaders in cloud-based legal technology, have recognised the ground breaking work of York solicitor Rachel Roche with the 2020 Reisman Award for Legal Innovation.

The Reisman Awards recognize extraordinary Clio customers for displaying excellence in their fields and making an impact in their communities. Roche Legal, which has offices in York and Harrogate, has developed a cutting edge online Will writing and Lasting Power of Attorney system and this latest award highlights the innovative thinking at the heart of the multi-award winning company.

Announcing their decision the Reisman Award judges said: “Rachel Roche knew that British will signing laws were outdated—the laws have been in place since 1837—so Rachel used technology to create 21st-century legal solutions; among other innovations, she created an online Will Writing and Lasting Power of Attorney service. For the firm’s efforts to transform the UK legal industry, we’re pleased to honour Roche Legal with the 2020 Reisman Award for Legal Innovation.”

Rachel Roche paid tribute to her team at Roche Legal which is dedicated to changing the image of the legal profession and using new technology to deliver an outstanding service for clients. Rachel said: “ There is a lot of work for the legal profession to do to bring it into the modern era and innovation is incrementally something we can do as a business to manage expectation as technology becomes part of every-day life.

“The driving force behind Roche Legal is our dedication to embrace new technology to ensure we offer unique client service innovations. There has been this archaic mindset that legal firms are slightly different to other businesses. We are trying to make things as easy as possible for clients who often come to us in challenging situations.

“Our ground-breaking initiatives are driven by our promise to go the extra mile to deliver a client service that revolves around a “real” authorised and regulated solicitor while also harnessing new technologies, creating convenience that caters for a modern lifestyle.”

Rochel Legal has expanded its team in recent months with the appointment of two specialist consultants, a senior solicitor and experienced paralegal to help guarantee that new and prospective clients have a positive experience. They have also pioneered a new client intake form available on the firm’s website to streamline new client onboarding and offer over 50 online help guides dealing with a wide range of legal issues that are free to download along with free printable asset logs to fill in at home.

Rachel Roche has also produced a series of pocket-sized self-help booklets including Inheritance Disputes: A guide to your legal responsibilities and follows the books dealing with Caring for an Elderly Relative, What to do when someone dies and Challenging a Will. The booklets are also available as complimentary eBooks on their website.
