Certified Copies

A certified copy of a document, is a photocopy of a document that has been stamped, signed and dated, usually by a solicitor, to confirm that it is a true and exact copy of the original.

You might need a certified copy of one or more of the following documents, for some financial and legal transactions:

  • Passports
  • Driving licences
  • Birth, death or marriage certificates
  • Government or hospital letters
  • Bank or building society statements
  • Utility bills

Our certified copy document service is available for a fixed fee.

We can also help with certifying Lasting Powers of Attorney, in accordance with the special rules that apply to these documents.

Statutory Declarations and Affidavits

In some cases, you might need to sign a Statutory Declaration or an Affidavit, which are written statements of fact signed in the presence of a Solicitor or another properly qualified person.

As Solicitors and Commissioners for Oaths, we can authenticate Statutory Declarations and Affidavits. The process involves you reciting some words and signing to confirm the truth of the statement. We then sign, date and state our qualification to authenticate the document you need.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office

If you need to use a document abroad, we can also arrange for certain documents to be legalised with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO).
